Medicine Detection Machine 2 series
The compact MDM 2 series has been specially designed for smaller-scale medicine repackagers. This compact system uses the basic technology of the MDM 3 series, and therefore has all the advantages of the larger system, but is more compact and operates on a smaller scale.
The MDM 2 series is designed for individual pharmacies, hospitals and care establishments to check single- and multi-dose pouches quickly and securely.
Like the MDM 3 series, the MDM 2 series automatically double-checks the content(s) of every pouch and compares it with the expected content held in its library. It is connected via a computer network to the tablet packaging machine control software, so that it knows the expected content of each pouch. It reads the pouch bar code and quickly and accurately checks the shape, colour and number of pills. A vibration table ensures pills are not lying on top of one another, and colour image capture stores a photographic record of each pouch for security and accountability.
The free-standing MDM 2 series unit takes the strip of pouches directly from the packaging machine, analyses each pouch using a line of image detectors and checks the contents against its library. Any pouches with incorrect contents are marked by the system for re-view. It then feeds the pouches through to the unit’s output, where they can be collected in a roll using one or more of the specially designed winders available.
The MDM 2 series can handle different types of pouches, and contains all the software needed to detect and recognise the medicines that are held in the system. When in programme mode, the MDM 2 series can gather details of all the tablets it will need to recognise. Details of each tablet, including a colour image, are stored in its library. If this information requires updating while the MDM 2 series is in use, the Vision Station can be used to change the information or add new pills to the library.
Data gathered by the MDM 2 series, including details of the pills, patient information and the photographic record of the pouch are then passed to the system library.
Like the MDM 3 series, the MDM 2 series is fast, reliable and accurate, and contains all the software needed to detect and recognise the medicines held in the system. It can check up to approximately 60 pouches per minute, depending on the speed of the packaging machine it is coupled to.
